Lucas Vidal to Score Isabel Coixet’s ‘Nobody Wants the Night’

Lucas Vidal has been hired to score the upcoming dramaNobody Wants the Night. The film is directed by Isabel Coixet (Elegy, The Secret Life of Words, My Life Without Me) and stars Juliette Binoche, Rinko Kikuchi and Gabriel Byrne. The movie follows two women from two different worlds who are struggling to survive in one of the most inhospitable places on Earth in early 1900s Greenland and chronicles their long, tense wait for the same man they love. Miguel Barros (Blackthorn) has written the screenplay. Andrés Santana (Blackthorn) is producing the project with Antonia Nava (The Machinist, Transsiberia) for Aiete-Ariane Films. Nobody Wants the Night is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2015.
Vidal has also recently scored the upcoming thriller Kidnapping Freddy Heineken starring Anthony Hopkins, Jim Sturgess & Sam Worthington, as well as the action thriller Tracers starring Taylor Lautner, which has been picked up for domestic distribution by Saban Films since our last update. The composer of such films as Fast & Furious 6, The Raven,The Quiet Ones and The Cold of the Light also has the Spanish period drama Palm Trees in the Snow (Palmeras en la nieve) coming up. The film is directed by Fernando González Molina and stars Mario Casas, Adriana Ugarte and Macarena Garcia. The movie is set in the last days of the Spanish colonies in Africa and follows a star-crossed love, with the consequences of that love reaching into the 21st century. Sergio G. Sánchez (The Impossible, The Orphanage) has written the film’s screenplay based on the best-selling novel by author Luz Gabas. The romantic drama will be released in 2015.
